Looking for a Sire to Build your own Goat Dairy / Meat Herd?

If you’re interested in starting or building your own goat herd for dairy or for meat, you’re welcome any time to meet the herd at Braidwood Farm Stay & Cafe.

Open 7 days, you can have a pat (or cuddle) and play with the goats.  You can check out our set-up, and ask any questions.

We chose goats here because we have a more shrubs and timber than grass, and we knew the goats would be able to take advantage of the thick swathes of Black Wattle trees that had come up after the bushfires.

Goats are mineral hunters, so they’re looking for plants with long tap roots that can access minerals deep in the soil.

I really want those minerals in my children’s diet too.

And I felt milking the goats and putting it in my family’s pancakes, cheese and ice-cream was an easy way of making that happen.

I had no idea how gregarious, fun and joyful goats are!

Though admittedly we haven’t found it “easy”, we do think the goats are a lot of fun!

Billie, the father of all the goat children here, gave us 2 daughters recently.  So we’re all set to bring a new father in.  Billie and his 2 sons, Oak and Vanilla, are all set for a new adventure with a new family.
